Privacy & Cookie Policy

Who is responsible

The controller for the data processed through this website, and the party responsible for its content under Austrian law (§5 ECG, §25 MedienG), is the operator below (“we”, “us”). You can reach us any time regarding privacy:

The desktop app collects nothing

To be unambiguous: the StopBurnout application you install on Windows does not track you. It reads only how long ago your last keyboard or mouse input happened (via the Windows GetLastInputInfo API) — never which keys, which apps, or what is on screen. All of its data lives in a local SQLite file on your own disk. The app makes exactly one network request in its lifetime: a single license activation. Nothing on this page changes that.

What the website collects, and why

1. Server logs (necessary)

Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically records standard technical request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user-agent — to serve the site securely and defend against abuse. This is based on our legitimate interest in operating a safe website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and does not require consent.

2. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

If — and only if — you click “Accept analytics” in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. Until you accept, no analytics script runs and no analytics cookie is set; Google Consent Mode keeps every signal set to “denied” by default. This processing is based on your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time (see “Your choices” below).

Cookies set only after you accept:

Analytics data is processed by Google (Google Ireland Ltd. and, potentially, Google LLC in the USA). GA4 does not store full IP addresses. Transfers to the USA rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You can read Google's own explanation in the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Purchases (Stripe)

If you buy a license, payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. We process your email address and the resulting license key to deliver and verify your purchase — this is necessary to perform our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). See the Stripe Privacy Policy.

4. Web fonts (Google Fonts)

This site currently loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google servers and Google receives your IP address for that request. If you would prefer to avoid this, the fonts can be self-hosted; we mention it here for full transparency.

5. Contacting us

If you email hello@stopburnout.app, we use your message and address only to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We use a small number of processors purely to run the site:

How long we keep data

Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and then rotated out. Google Analytics data follows the retention configured in GA4 (and the cookie lifetimes above). Purchase records (email and license key) are kept for as long as your lifetime license is valid and as required by law.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

To exercise any of these, email hello@stopburnout.app.
