What is in version 1.1.2?

  • Activity-aware timing. Keyboard and mouse activity count as work; time away is credited as recovery instead of falsely advancing the timer.
  • Three protection levels. Choose a notification, a password-locked full-screen break or No way out mode.
  • Every-monitor coverage. A running enforced break places an overlay on each connected display and follows virtual-desktop changes.
  • Local history. Daily statistics and a timeline of work, idle time, breaks and early unlocks stay in a local SQLite database.
  • Portable delivery. There is no installer and no separate .NET download; extract the ZIP and run the application.

For precise behavior and limitations, see the feature documentation and the enforcement test.

How to verify the ZIP in PowerShell

A checksum tells you whether the file you downloaded is byte-for-byte identical to the file published here. In the folder containing the ZIP, run:

(Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 ".\StopBurnout-1.1.2-win-x64.zip").Hash

The output must exactly match:

34B8138193AD2FD6DC238307084115F9199C06FDCE4BD8B0A315B7A65821D46B

You can also download the plain-text checksum file. If even one character differs, do not run the ZIP; delete it and download it again from https://stopburnout.app.

Important trust and enforcement limits

  • The app is currently unsigned. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. The checksum confirms file integrity against this website, but code signing would provide stronger publisher identity. Review the warning rather than bypassing it automatically.
  • “Hard to skip” is not malware-style lockout. StopBurnout resists ordinary close attempts and restores a break after restart, but it does not block Task Manager, the Windows key or Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
  • The desktop app has no telemetry. A paid activation makes one network request; after that, license verification is offline. Optional analytics on this website is separate and consent-based.
  • This is a behavior tool, not medical care. It does not diagnose, prevent or treat burnout, repetitive strain injury or eye conditions.

Install and update

  1. Download and verify the ZIP.
  2. Extract it to a folder you control.
  3. Run StopBurnout.App.exe.
  4. Complete the setup wizard and choose a realistic first schedule.

Keep the extracted folder intact. When a future version is published, this page will retain the current version, date and verification details.
